Ingredients
  • FOR GULAB JAMUN
  • cup - Khoya
  • 1½ cups - Soft cottage cheese
  • 2 tbsp - Refined flour
  • tsp - Cardamom powder
  • 1-2 sheets - Silver varaq
  • Chopped nuts for garnishing
  • FOR SUGAR SYRUP
  • 2 cups - Sugar
  • 2 cups - Water
  • 1 tbsp - Rose water
  • Few strands of saffron
Instructions
  1. Grate cottage cheese and khoya.
  2. Add refined flour and knead to make a soft dough.
  3. Make small balls or jamuns, keep aside.
  4. In a pan heat water and sugar together till it starts boiling
  5. Remove the scum.
  6. When it is warm add saffron and rose water.
  7. Arrange jamuns on a baking dish and bake at 180°C to 205°C.
  8. Or till they are baked and become brown.
  9. Soak them in warm sugar syrup for atleast 2 hours.
  10. Garnish with silver varq and chopped dry fruits
Notes
TIPS :-1. Saffron and kewra may be added to the sugar syrup for fragrance. 2. Cottage cheese made at home is soft and give better texture to the jamun. POPULARITY OF GULAB JAMUN :- Popular dessert in countries of the Indian Subcontinent such as India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bangladesh.
